Slanesville is an unincorporated community within northeastern Hampshire County, West Virginia, USA. Slanesville is placed at a crossway of Bloomery Pike (WV 29) with Slanesville Pike (CR Three) & Cold Stream Road (CR 45/20). Slanesville Pike & Cold Stream Road erstwhile mass produced higher a Springfield Grade Road that ran from Capon Bridge to Springfield.

History
A community of Slanesville was earliest inhabited by generations of the Slain personal in the late eighteenth century & upon its cash settlement it was referred to as Cross Roads because of its prime location at a meeting of the Martinsburg (old WV 45) & Springfield (CR Three) Grade Roads. Slanesville so took a title of Slain’s Cross Roads when a prominence of the Slain personal in the neighborhood of the community. It wwhen as well misspelled as Slane’s Cross Roads which would late influence its todays title. Slanesville was so known as Puppy Town because of the Slain family’s prominent total of dogs. Eventually, a community was known as Slainsville then Slanesville when Thomas Slain in the 1850s. Slanes Knob (1,588 feet), placed touching Capon Bridge, is too known as for the large Slain personal in the area.

Slanesville differed from either its neighboring communities of Bloomery and North River Mills early on because it never became a center of major industry. Bloomery to its northeast was the center for iron smelting and blooming, while N Flow of any stream Mills, corresponding its title suggests, was the center for mill productiin on North River. Slanesville was preponderantly the agricultural community throughout virtually all of its history & served as a popular stage prevent in the early 1800s along the Martinsburg & Springfield Grade Roads. the sole signs of limited industry within Slanesville were deuce blacksmith shops do per Hockman personal & a cider mill.

The fire in the summertime of 1955 cost the community threesome buildings & this led to the formation of the Slanesville Volunteer Fire Department around August of that equivalent month. A Slanesville VFD is presently located in "downtown" Slanesville adjacent to the Slanesville Trading post & its post office on the crossroads. A Slanesville Presbyterian Church is also located in "downtown" through Slanesville Pike from either a country store.

A community’s Slanesville Simple School along WV Xxix in the south of town was carrier to President George H. W. Bush in April 1991 when he landed by helicopter in a field adjacent to the school to award Rae Ellen McKee the National Teacher of the Year award for 1991. a fifth grade remedial reading teacher, McKee was chosen from either among the united states's other than Deuce.Five million simple & secondary public school teachers.
